When you have dry skin, what do you do? You may put some lotion on and start using a moisturizing soap. Unfortunately, when your cat develops dry skin, these measures don't really work. Cats don't typically enjoy baths, and any lotion you apply will probably just get caught in the cat's fur. If you've noticed your cat has dry skin, it's a good idea to take them to a vet, and perhaps even a veterinary dermatologist if you can find one in your area.

One of the easiest pets to own is a cat. The innate independence that these animals have means you do not have to clean up after their bodily functions and you don't have to bathe them since they often clean themselves. So when your feline falls ill, it can be difficult to discern whether they need immediate medical attention, more so if your pet typically keeps to themselves. Keeping that in mind, it is vital that you keep an eye out for any changes, whether physical or behavioral, so that you can seek medical intervention before it is too late.

Just as with humans, when you need a specialist, you would go see one that has more experience dealing with your specific condition. If your regular vet recommends it, you should take your dog to a specialist as well.

Just like humans, dogs can develop eye issues that need to be treated by a veterinarian at an animal hospital. One common eye problem that affects dogs is corneal ulcers. A corneal ulcer occurs when the surface of the cornea is wounded or suffers an abrasion. Some corneal ulcers in dogs are considered superficial, while others can be quite deep. Either way, a dog who has a corneal ulcer should be taken to an animal hospital as soon as possible so a vet can do a complete exam and prescribe the right treatment to help its eye heal.
