When you own a dog, they usually become a constant companion for all members of your household. However, there are many situations, such as traveling for business or going on vacation, where you will not be able to bring your dog with you. Thus, if you are a dog owner, it is important to find a reputable and trustworthy animal boarding facility to care for your canine family member when you are away. Most cities and metro areas have multiple animal boarding facilities, so you should take the time to learn more about your options and select the right place for your dog to stay while you are traveling. Think about the following things when choosing an animal boarding facility for your dog.
Cleanliness
If you plan on boarding your dog in the near future, it is always a good idea to view potential boarding facilities instead of just relying on websites or online reviews. Seeing a boarding facility in person will give you a lot of insight into how the facility is run and how the animals in their care are treated. When you visit potential animal boarding facilities, one thing to pay careful attention to is how clean the building is. A reputable boarding facility will work very hard to keep all areas clean and disinfected at all times. If a boarding facility smells bad or you see animal waste that has not been cleaned up, it probably is not the best place for your dog to stay.
Available Services
Most pet owners do not want their dog to spend all day and night in a small kennel, which is why many animal boarding facilities offer a number of services to make your pet's stay as pleasant and stress-free as possible. When you're narrowing down your boarding facility choices, take extra services into mind. Some of the services to look for include puppy playtime, which gives dogs the ability to run around and socialize with other dogs, and extra walks throughout the day. Some boarding facilities also offer grooming services, so your dog will be bathed and clean when you pick them up.
Price
The price charged per night for boarding can vary greatly from one facility to another. It is always a good idea to find out exactly how much it will cost for your dog to stay at a boarding facility. When inquiring about pricing, don't forget to find out exactly what is included. Some boarding facilities may have a higher nightly fee, but the fee may include more services for your dog than a lower-priced facility.

When I moved into the town I'm living in now, there was a large population of stray cats. Unfortunately, that population kept growing in rapid numbers because none of the cats had been fixed. I knew that wasn't a healthy situation, so I reached out to a local shelter and a veterinarian to launch a trap-alter-release program. Within about a year, we had the entire population altered and released back to their environments. The logistics were significant, but not overwhelming. That's why I built this site. My goal is to teach others how to launch a similar program in their own neighborhood to help keep the stray cats healthier and safer.
